Bo Bichette says Mets hitters have to get a little dirty offensively

“And sometimes you have got to get a little dirty out there and sometimes look bad for the possibility of looking really good and take some chances.”The Mets hadn’t scored in 20 innings before a Francisco Lindor hit a leadoff homer in a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday.Bichette, who went 1-for-4 in Tuesday’s loss, was asked to further elaborate on players needing to “get a little dirty” during at-bats.“It’s a mindset,” he said.“You can either choose to go in there and try to be too smart and try to look good, or you can decide to get in there and compete.

At the end of the day, it’s a choice.”Bichette, after a slow start, was on the upswing before going hitless in seven at-bats over the team’s previous two games entering Monday.He began the day with a .727 OPS in April.“You either believe in yourself or not, and this team, we believe in each other,” Bichette said.
