Jorge Polanco hits injured list as Mets take another early season blow

The Mets took another loss on Saturday before they even took the field against the Cubs.Infielder Jorge Polanco was placed on the 10-day injured list — retroactive to April 15 — with a right wrist contusion.
Catcher Hayden Senger has been called up in a corresponding move.Polanco has been dealing with Achilles bursitis for the last three weeks, but has missed the last two games because of the wrist issue.
Manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that when doctors initially looked at Polanco’s wrist during the Dodgers series this week, it appeared as if he had been hit by a pitch when he had not been.Mendoza added that he did not have a timetable for when Polanco will be back on the field, but that his ankle was trending in the right direction.Polanco, signed to a two-year, $40 million contract in the offseason, has hit .179/.246/.286 with one homer and two RBIs in 14 games with the Mets.The Mets, losers of nine straight games, have also been without outfielder Juan Soto since April 3 with a right calf strain....
