With federal migrant detention in Newark under seige, Gov. Mikie Sherrill cowers in corner: critics

Critics are blasting New Jersey Gov.Mikie Sherrill’s inaction as anti-ICE mayhem rages out of control outside a Newark immigration detention center — with five more lefty goons arrested Friday night.

“Night after night of unhinged criminal riots while @GovSherrillNJ now cowers in the corner, tail between her legs, taking her marching orders from a gaggle of unhinged rioters & useful idiots in the liberal media who paint violent aggressors as victims,” ripped NJ Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia on X, reacting to the latest riot outside the federal facility.“Her next steps are dictated by the fear of how her actions will impact votes in her quest for higher office,” added the Republican lawmaker, who is calling for federal intervention in Newark.  “This reactive mindset makes for terrible leadership.NJ is collateral damage in her audition for the Democrat presidential nomination,” she added.NJ state Sen.

Holly Schepisi likened the latest rioting to an “arsonist-firefighter situation.“They’re throwing themselves on top of vehicles of the staff as they’re trying to leave work and really created a situation,” said the Bergen County pol who leads the Senate Republican Conference.“Somebody’s gonna get killed.”She also told The Post that Sherrill “is in a very precarious position right now.” “The very same group of self-appointed NJ progressives who were protesting less than seven months ago to have her elected are the very same people who now are protesting her,” she said. “If I was the governor, I would either ensure a greater police presence immediately and keep it within New Jersey, or I would try to start working with the federal government and tone down the rhetoric and try to bring some calm before we turn into Minnesota.
