A maniac went on a bloody rampage with a machete in Scotland that left five people hurt.The shirtless attacker appeared to be targeting Muslims in the Friday attacks, which unfolded in Edinburgh, according to reports.The suspect, 36, who was not publicly identified, slashed two men near a mosque in the western portion of the city before going on to hurt three others Leith Walk, authorities said.None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening, according to the BBC.Online video appeared to show the suspect saying he was “protecting his country” from Muslims while being held on the ground and arrested.“I’ve told you time and time again, I’m protecting the country from these f–king Muslim bastards.Raping our young daughters, raping our kids.

Enough is enough.I have had enough,” the man shouted while being cuffed.Islamic community group MEND Scotland said several of the victims are Muslim, The BBC reported.The Muslim Council of Britain also issued a statement and warned members of the faith to “stay vigilant.”“To our community: stay vigilant, look out for one another, and please report any Islamophobic hate crimes to the police,” a spokesperson for the group said, according to the BBC.
