Boy arrested in affluent California college town after slamming baby girl into the ground, killing her

A disturbing act by a teenage boy in Southern California who allegedly killed a baby girl when he threw her to the ground.Law enforcement responded to a home on the 1400 block of Lynoak Drive in Claremont around 11:38 a.m.Monday.“Upon arrival, officers determined that an infant had been thrown to the floor by a juvenile at the residence.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the infant to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for emergency medical treatment,” the Claremont Police Department said in a news release.“The juvenile suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Claremont Police Department Jail, where he was booked,” the police further commented.

Due to the severity of her injuries, the baby was transferred over to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where she later died.As for the boy, he was charged with murder and is currently being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.He is set to be arraigned on Thursday, July 2.Claremont is a quiet, affluent suburban city in the eastern part of Los Angeles County and is home to The Claremont Colleges.

The Claremont Colleges is made up of prestigious undergraduate colleges such as Harvey Mudd, Claremont McKenna, Pomona, and Scripps.Claremont has a population of around 37,000 people and boasts low crime rates, with the city recording just six homicides from 2013 to 2023.
