Woman, 3 cats rescued from raging Long Island house fire as one firefighter injured

Long Island firefighters rescued a woman and three cats from a raging house fire that sent one of Bay Shore’s Finest to the hospital, officials said Wednesday.Seven different fire departments showed up early Wednesday morning to battle the blaze on a burning and collapsing two-story Bay Shore home — as one person and the animals were trapped inside, according to the Bay Shore Fire Department. “We arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor,” Bay Shore firefighter Dennison DeNatalie told The Post. “The fire caused a partial collapse inside the home and it took over an hour to bring the fire under control,” officials added. One heroic firefighter, whose identity was not revealed, suffered burns to the legs as he was fighting the fire and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, officials said. “He will make a full recovery and is doing well,” DeNatalie said.The person trapped inside, who has also not been identified, along with the three cats trapped alongside her — were all rescued and accounted for, fire officials said.The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear.The blaze is now under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department’s arson squad and Islip Town Fire Marshalls. ...
