Puka Nacua celebrates Polynesian culture with The Rock at Moana premiere

Puka Nacua’s offseason has included plenty of work, reflection and scrutiny.This week, it also included a moment of joy.The Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver attended the premiere of the new Moana movie at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night, watching the film with his mother and meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who stars in the franchise.Nacua shared photos and videos from the event on Instagram, including a picture with Johnson.For Nacua, the night carried more meaning than a typical Hollywood premiere.

As a player of Polynesian descent, he got to watch his culture celebrated on one of the biggest stages in entertainment, under the lights at one of Los Angeles’ most iconic venues.It was also another family-centered moment for a player whose relationship with his mother has been central to his story.Last offseason, Nacua and his mom traveled to Samoa together, exploring their heritage for the first time in a trip he has described as unforgettable.Now, Nacua is entering another defining stretch with the Rams.On the field, there is no question about his place in Los Angeles.

Nacua has quickly become one of the NFL’s most productive receivers, topping 4,000 receiving yards through three seasons and earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro recognition.His 2025 season was the best of his young career, with 129 catches for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns.The Rams view him as a cornerstone of Sean McVay’s offense and one of the players capable of helping define the next era of the franchise.But his offseason has also included serious questions away from football.
