Chris Avantgarde Elevates the Dancefloor Experience With Debut Album, 'Hyperreal'

Chris Avantgarde, one of the leading tastemakers in the melodic techno scene, has released his long-awaited debut album, Hyperreal.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 With multiple Beatport chart-toppers including collaborations with Anyma and Kevin DeVries, the German producer is known for combining cinematic soundscapes with driving beats.

Those experimental sounds stem in part from his background as a classically trained jazz musician and pianist, a background that lends itself to the diverse palette found in the new album As debut albums go, Hyperreal encapsulates the different hats Avantgarde has worn throughout his career. The project opens with a jolt to the system by virtue of ‘Origin’.

After a slow build, the song climaxes into a broody, underground club banger.Avantgarde’s unorthodox approach to production sets the tone for the rest of the album, which ebbs and flows through various genres along the way.

Other notable tracks include ‘Where Do You Go,’ ‘Energy’ and ‘Rhythm Check,’ which elevate the album with moments of high energy when it’s needed the most.In contrast, ‘Like I Do,’ ‘Elysium’ and ‘The Other Side’ offer a more subdued sound while still delivering Avantgarde’s level of polish.

Sandwiched between the album’s 18 tracks is one of its biggest standouts, ‘Desolate Lands,’ which was named by EDM.com as one of the best tracks of 2025.One of only three collaborative efforts, the dark and jarring record finds Avantgarde partnering with Adam Beyer for a thumping techno heater.
