July 15 is National Hot Dog Day, and several food retailers nationwide are offering promotions to help celebrate.Americans consume roughly 20 billion hot dogs each year, or 70 hot dogs per person, on average, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC).Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Americans eat an estimated 7 billion hot dogs, enough to stretch from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles more than five times, according to the NHDSC.GAS STATION FOOD IS 'EXTRAORDINARY' AND 'HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT,' SAYS TOP CHEFFrom gas stations and convenience stores to traditional restaurants, there are plenty of ways to get a deal on one of America's favorite summer foods.At 7-Eleven, customers who use the app can get any two roller grill items, including the Big Bite hot dog, for $3.50.The Big Bite hot dog is an all-beef, quarter-pound dog that can be customized with various sauces and condiments at the chain's Big Bite bar.Speedway and Stripes stores, which are owned by 7-Eleven, are offering a similar deal for rewards members.Several retailers across the country are honoring National Hot Dog Day with promotions.
