Replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.”DSA drafters said an expanded House would be more democratic than the Senate, where each state has two senators regardless of population.The lefty political group said the president has too much unilateral power in launching wars, and the conservative Supreme Court has expanded the executive’s influence even more.Elsewhere, the DSA wants the government to establish public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries to “ensure democratic control and accountability to the people.”It also calls for enacting “aggressive wealth taxes” on the richest individuals and corporations to fund public services and infrastructure.“It’s been said that it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of capitalism,” the manifesto said.“But just because it isn’t easy to imagine now doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to make it happen.
