Exclusive | Gavin Newsom to release long-awaited tax returns by end of July

Gov.Gavin Newsom will release his latest tax returns by the end of this month, ending weeks of mounting questions over why the California Democrat stopped disclosing the records after 2020, The Post has learned.“The remaining returns will be shared this month,” Newsom spokesperson Diana Crofts-Pelayo said in a statement to The Post.“They’re unremarkable and entirely consistent with what Californians already know from his annual Form 700 disclosures.
The Governor publicly released his tax returns while he was on the ballot and is happy to go above and beyond by releasing the remaining years as well.” She added, “Californians can already go online and review his annual disclosures of income, investments, gifts, assets, liabilities, business interests, and other financial information.”The announcement comes just over a week after Newsom bristled when The Post pressed him during a news conference about the missing tax returns and ongoing federal investigations involving him, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, members of his staff and figures in his political orbit.“I know you love taxes,” Newsom quipped before pivoting to President Trump.“Donald Trump, when has he released them?”When reminded that he had previously portrayed himself as more transparent than Trump, Newsom insisted he had released his taxes “for decades” and promised the newer returns were coming.“And you will have all those new tax returns, because — I have no reason why you haven’t gotten them already,” he said.
