Two dogs dragged by heartless owner behind car on NYC street have recovered, ready for new homes
It’s their sweet second chance.Two adorable dogs who were allegedly dragged by a Queens man as he drove through Long Island City earlier this year have made miraculous recoveries and are ready to find their forever homes.Marzipan and Nougat — known affectionately as Marley and Miss Noogie — are now up for adoption after receiving specialized treatment from the ASPCA following their rescue in January.The two dogs were seen in a disturbing clip tied up by their leashes to the back of a red Volkswagen Passat, struggling to keep up as the car drove to an intersection around 11th Street and 43rd Avenue on Jan.
4.Officers arrested the 68-year-old driver, Dan Bujor, after a horrified witness contacted the NYPD.
Marley — who suffered a ruptured eardrum from the terrifying ordeal — was “extremely fearful” when she arrived at the ASPCA and underwent specialized behavioral rehabilitation to build her trust of new people, an ASPCA spokesperson told The Post.Though the German shepherd cowered in the back of her kennel and avoided interaction, she began opening up with the help of more confident “helper dogs” and touch training.Marley is still shy, but now loves to show off her goofy personality while learning new tricks, chasing balls, and running outside.Miss Noogie, a large mixed-breed dog, had abrasions on her paw pads behind her wrists, inflammation of the skin between her toes, and diarrhea when she was rescued.The big-hearted, adventurous pup has been thriving in a foster home for the last few months and is looking for a home where her owner will share her love for snacks — and naps.
