Angel Reese boasts of $400 win in bet with Paige Bueckers in WNBA controversy

Dream star Angel Reese didn’t forget about the $400 bet she made with Wings guard Paige Bueckers during WNBA All-Star weekend.“DUBS IN THE MF CHAT,” Reese wrote on X after tallying a double-double in the Dream’s 82-81 nail-biter win over Dallas on Wednesday. She added the hashtag, “cuatrocientos,” which means “four hundred” in Spanish — a reference to the pair’s playful bet made at All-Star weekend in Chicago to shell out $400 if their respective teams lost Wednesday’s game.“Yeah I’ll be requesting my Apple Pay after this,” Reese said when asked about the wager in her postgame press conference.
The WNBA posted and then deleted a video of Reese and Bueckers discussing the bet at an All-Star weekend practice.“I know y’all gonna lose … but if y’all win, you get the $400,” Reese, who was holding a wad of $100 bills, said in the clip.“… You owe me $400 [if the Dream beat the Wings].”The video also showed Bueckers being asked about the bet during her tunnel walk before Wednesday’s game.“I’ll stand on it,” Bueckers said with a laugh. It’s a violation of league rules for players to wager money on games, per the WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement. The pair, who are friends off the court, exchanged words after Bueckers was called for a foul while guarding Reese in the first quarter at College Park Center in Arlington.Afterwards, Reese complimented Buecker’s game and called her a “great” player, whose mid-range is “so good.” “I’m glad we just got this win as a team,” Reese, who tallied 22 points and 12 rebounds.“It felt really good and just going into the next game i feel like it gives us a lot of confidence going back home.” The Dream host the Storm in Atlanta on Friday, while the Wings play the Mystics in Washington....
