Celebrity builders Rob Diaz and Mark Alexander have sold Villa Duir, built this year in Studio City’s Fryman Canyon, for $13.2 million.That marks a record sale for Studio City on a price-per-square-foot basis.The builders are known for their fresh “Scandifornian”-inspired designs and the celebrities who buy them, including Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron and supermodel Amber Valletta.“Duir” is the ancient Celtic word for oak — an apt name for the home, which is surrounded by century-old oak trees.The modern two-story, five-bedroom home at 3274 Oakdell Road first hit the market for $13.9 million in March.
It sits on just under 0.62 acres, on a rare, flat lot.It was also delivered fully furnished: The seller bought a vibe as well as a home.Scandifornian style is a recent term used to describe a design aesthetic that combines a Scandinavian minimalism with a sunny Cali sense of style.Known for stylish renovations, rebuilds and ground-up spec constructions, the builders have projects that include a renovated 1941 Studio City bungalow that Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron bought for $2.64 million — $340,000 over the asking price — in 2022.
Supermodel and environmental activist Amber Valletta also purchased a partially finished eco-friendly six-bedroom hilltop home on the edge of a rural canyon from Diaz and Alexander for an undisclosed price; the home was showcased in Architectural Digest two years ago.Another project, known as Casa Mallorca, was showcased on “Selling Sunset,” before selling last year for $4.1 million — down from its $6 million ask. Diaz and Alexander also built the Fryman Estate, a modern ground-up 17,627-square-foot, seven-bedroom modern farmhouse on property owned by the late “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek and his widow, Jean.The home first hit the market last year asking a staggering $42 million.
