Missing Illinois dad and son Todd and Theo Sabatini found safely some 60 miles from home

The huge hunt for an Illinois dad who went missing with his young son has ended after threy were found safely across state lines, around 60 miles from home.Todd Sabatini, 36, sparked panic early Saturday afternoon when he went missing with his 22-month-old son, Theo, during what appeared to be a routine walk around their neighborhood in McHenry, around 46 miles northwest of Chicago.Relatives raised the alarm when the pair had still failed to return around four hours later — and Theo’s stroller was later found abandoned around a mile from their home, the Lake McHenry Scanner reported.However, they were tracked down late Sunday in Milwaukee, some 60 miles across state lines in Wisconsin, police confirmed, without elaborating on exactly why they are thought to have been there.After an investigation, it was discovered Sabatini first took his son in a rideshare to the Salem Lakes area of Wisconsin — and eventually went to the Greenfield Police Department, a further 40 miles north, according to cops.The dad spoke with an officer there around 2 p.m.Saturday — before he and his son were viewed as being missing — although it isn’t clear what was discussed, the outlet said.After walking away from the police station,father and son were later spotted in the Milwaukee area seeking food and other necessities, according to tips from investigators.They were then seen on a Milwaukee public bus on Sunday and were safely located by McHenry Police Department detectives, with the help of Milwaukee County Transit System employees.They were transported back to McHenry and provided the proper services before being safely reunited with family members.“The McHenry Police Department extends its utmost gratitude to our community, surrounding communities, and the families involved for their help and assistance with tips and information,” the department said in an update on Monday.No criminal charges are being sought at this time, but the incident remains under investigation,...
