The plan, according to the popular electronic music hub, is to automatically spot generative audio across its catalogue while keeping human creators at the center of its business.Beatport philosophy acknowledges that dance music has always evolved alongside digital tools, though the company stressed that technological progress must not come at the expense of artists.
“At Beatport, we welcome tools that propel the space forward, but our priority is and always will be the people behind the music,” the statement reads.“As a community, we are still evaluating where to draw the line between AI-driven tools which support the creative process, and those which circumvent or exploit human artistry.” Under its enforced guidelines, Beatport refuses to accept music on its platform that has been wholly or substantially generated by artificial intelligence.
The policy specifically targets fully generative tracks as well as software used to clone or replicate the voices and performances of artists without explicit, legally cleared permission.Any content violating these conditions is withheld at ingestion and rightsholders will be notified directly, according to Beatport.
At the same time, they were careful not to discourage the use of assistive production tools.Beatport says it explicitly permits AI technology used for mixing, mastering, stem separation or standard audio processing, viewing those applications as legitimate enhancements to human workflow.
