DiJonai Carrington face smack, eye slap has WNBA fans fuming days after Sophie Cunningham foul controversy

DiJonai Carrington hasn’t found a way out of the line of WNBA fire.The Sky guard caught more heat Wednesday night after committing two more hard fouls in their 91-71 loss to the Valkyries at Chase Center only days after her ejection from a flagrant 2 on Sophie Cunningham.The first came while the 28-year-old guarded Golden State’s Cecilia Zandalasini, who held the ball at the top of the key before Carrington seemingly scratched her face and hit her eye while trying to block a pass.Zandalasini was quick to turn her back to Carrington and bent down while grabbing her face in pain.Sky coach Tyler Marsh can be seen in the back of the video holding his hands up, seemingly coaching Carrington to keep her hands in the air while defending the ball.The incident called back to Carrington’s similar move on Caitlin Clark in 2024 that gave the Fever star a black eye.

Later on, she jumped to get in the way of Tiffany Hayes’ drive to the basket but as the Valkyries’ veteran moved the ball around her body to put it against the glass, Carrington lowered her right arm into her opponent’s face.The two incidents had fans riled up about her “signature” moves.“And another one… DiJonai collecting eyebounds like they’re rebounds,” one fan wrote on X.“DiJonai has to be banned from the @WNBA this person don’t belong in basketball,” another wrote.“Dijonai Carrington always hitting someone in the face or head.She has to do a better job of controlling her hands and arms, because this is starting to look reckless,” a third user wrote.Another said: “Carrington is dirty AF.
