Zedd let his inner gamer loose on Randall’s Island, stepping out from behind the decks and onto a drum kit to perform the theme from Halo, the blockbuster Xbox franchise scored by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The stunt, which took place during the Grammy-winning producer’s headlining set at the first-ever Zedd In the Park event in NYC, was less out of left field than it perhaps looked on its face.

He picked up drums at age 12 and cut his teeth in the German post-hardcore trio Dioramic before EDM made him a superstar.Back in October 2017, Zedd famously played the drums at the Hollywood Bowl in LA during the memorial concert ‘Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington.’ He then traded the booth for a drum throne during John Mayer’s surprise appearance at his Coachella 2025 set last year, and also played Pantera’s ‘Cowboys From Hell’ for Drumeo after hearing only a drumless version of the track.

Zedd’s love of gaming runs just as deep.He produced ‘Ignite,’ the 2016 League of Legends World Championship anthem, and performed it live with an orchestra at the finals’ opening ceremony inside Staples Center.

He’s also collaborted frequently with Riot Games’ VALORANT, producing an official remix of the game’s 2021 championship anthem and developing a line of custom weapon skins.Zedd’s sold-out festival, the first outside Los Angeles, brought DJ Snake, Louis The Child, Knock2, Porter Robinson, Madeon, Ellis and zensei ゼンセー to Randall’s Island.
