Horror discovery on the sand at world-famous LA beach

A man was found dead of an apparent suicide on the sands of Venice Beach late Monday night near some of the beach’s most famous attractions.Witnesses called 911 to report a shooting on the 1800 block of Ocean Front Walk, with police arriving to scene around 11:13 p.m., according to the LAPD.The man was discovered “down in the sand” just south of Lifeguard Tower 19, not far from Muscle Beach and the Venice Beach basketball courts, KTLA reported.Images showed authorities on the sand surrounding the body, covered by a white sheet, as bright light illuminated the scene.The LAPD said officers found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.
