Critics have a bizarre new cudgel to use on Team Trump: living conditions on the USS Abraham Lincoln.The nuclear-powered Nimitz-class aircraft carrier has been at sea with 5,000 service members for more than 260 days, including more than 150 in a combat zone.Reports of food and supply shortages and slipping morale went viral after one sailor apparently had to be rescued after jumping overboard (wearing a life-vest) and a few others reportedly had suicidal thoughts.The left is painting the carrier’s conditions as unusually bleak, linking them to the ship’s long deployment and blaming it all on President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s supposedly mismanaged war.Please.Yes, the Lincoln’s deployment has been long, but its conditions are hardly rare for the military, especially in wartime.This got so much attention simply because it’s a way to slam Trump & Co.Just a few months back, recall, the Trump-haters were griping about servicemen enjoying steak and lobster.That’s right: Lefties were suddenly worried about government spending (and never mind that such feasts are traditional before long deployments).Now, Hegseth’s not feeding sailors well enough.Fact is, military life is hard, and extended time at sea is often necessary even in peacetime: The USS Nimitz carrier deployed for 321 days with no port calls during the 2020-’21 pandemic; plenty of other ships have seen long deployments as well.And, yes, service in a war zone is tougher still.Yet the Navy reports the Lincoln has not seen “an increase in suicidal ideations or attempts aboard the ship,” and “religious, medical and mental health professionals” are “available to assess and address concerns as they arise.”CentCom’s commander, Adm.
