Dodgers placing Edwin Diaz back on injured list amid nightmare season

The Los Angeles Dodgers are placing closer Edwin Diaz on the injured list.This marks the second time Diaz has landed on the IL this season.

The Dodgers are recalling right-hander Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City Tuesday and Diaz is the corresponding move.The Dodgers closer allowed three runs on four hits in Monday’s game against the Colorado Rockies.

Diaz entered the game with a nine-run lead.Diaz is sporting a 11.85 ERA this season.The All-Star reliever previously spent more than three months on the IL after undergoing surgery to repair loose bodies in his elbow.Since coming off the IL at the end of July, Diaz has posted a 12.91 ERA.
