During a sweep of the festival’s venue in Daresbury, Cheshire Police excavated more than 200 canisters of nitrous oxide along with significant quantities of ecstasy, MDMA and ketamine.The haul highlights an ongoing effort by authorities to thwart attendees and vendors who attempt to bypass security checkpoints by hiding drugs on the premises months before the gates open.
Local authorities confirmed that search operations will continue throughout the week in an effort to locate any remaining stashes before visitors arrive.Superintendent Andy Blizard warned that officers maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy toward illegal substances and expressed confidence that continued sweeps would yield further seizures.
Around 80,000 daily attendees are expected to gather at the site starting Thursday.“Every year, we counter a number of brazen individuals who think they can outsmart us by concealing drugs from view or burying them at the site months in advance,” Blizard said in a statement.
