Arcade Fire Frontman to Play Rare DJ Set at LA Halloween Event

Win Butler, the frontman of the iconic indie-rock band Arcade Fire, will step behind the decks for a rare DJ set at ‘The Maze,’ a Halloween block party event in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The influential musician will be joined by Paul Beaubrun, a multi-instrumentalist who serves as a touring member of the band rather than a full core member.

The duo plans to blend traditional DJing with live instrumentation, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.Butler, Arcade Fire’s lead vocalist and primary songwriter, has maintained a parallel DJing career for over a decade under the moniker DJ Windows 98.

Playing club nights and festival after-hours gigs around the world, his DJ sets typically blend disco, funk, hip-hop and early electronic music.Arcade Fire’s booking follows the tragic death of the French electronic music pioneer Kavinsky, who was originally slated to perform.

“Kavinsky was an artist we deeply admired, and having him be part of this year’s Maze meant a great deal to all of us,” said event producer Cyril Bitar.“His passing was an enormous loss, and we never wanted to simply move forward without recognizing the place he held in this event.
