Mets dont appear ready to bring back Jonah Tong despite recent Triple-A turnaround

“His stuff has always been really, really good.When he’s got velo, when he fills up the strike zone, he’s good and he’s done that more consistently recently.

So we’re encouraged by that.” The Mets hope Tong is a part of their future, while the 36-year-old Stock is merely a placeholder, and one with a 7.40 ERA.In five starts, he has failed to record an out in the sixth inning.

Stock has been noncompetitive in two of those starts. Tong, 23, has yet to find himself at the big league level, failing to reach expectations as a top prospect.In five starts last year, Tong pitched to a 7.71 ERA.
