The summer of sewer diving keeps on going.Five “mole people” dove down a manhole into the Long Island drainage system in an overnight run Thursday — just one week after a seemingly separate trio emerged in NYC.The unidentified urban spelunkers descended into the Wantagh storm drain at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue at around 1 a.m., WABC reported.The group was captured on surveillance cameras working together to get the cover open before sliding into the opening into the underground in a matter of seconds, according to video obtained by the outlet.The men, wearing black shirts and shorts, slipped inside before closing the cover as all five vanished into the depths below the street, where several shopping centers are located.Two witnesses had watched the night crawlers and called the Nassau County Police, the outlet reported.Investigators went down into the sewer but came up empty-handed in their search for the wannabe Ninja Turtles.Residents of the Long Island neighborhood questioned the potential motives behind the midnight adventures.“It’s kind of dangerous; I don’t know what they have in mind,” one resident told the outlet.“There’s a level of concern, but you can’t stop people from doing what they want to do,” a man said.“It’s kind of crazy to be honest with you.I have seen it on the news recently,” a third added.Thursday’s sewer break-in comes a week after a trio was seen climbing up from a manhole outside Penn Station and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan around 4:20 a.m.
