Philadelphia man charged with multiple felonies in connection with Saquon Barkley home break-in
A Philadelphia man has been charged by Montgomery County in connection to the attempted break-in at Eagles’ running back Saquon Barkley’s home, along with two other burglaries. Jabir Parker, 24, has been charged by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office with multiple felonies, including burglary, conspiracy to burglary, criminal trespass (breaking into a structure), theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal use of a communications facility, and related crimes, according to a news release. The Montgomery County DA did not identify Barkley as one of the victims, but multiple outlets in Philadelphia reported that Barkley’s home was one of the residences that Parker had attempted to allegedly break into. Parker had been arrested on Tuesday by the Lower Merion Police Department with the assistance of FBI SWAT, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Philadelphia Police Department and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. He appeared before a judge, where bail was set at $1 million and Parker was remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Parker will be back in court on Sept.10 for a preliminary hearing. “I want to commend the Lower Merion Police for their thorough and technically savvy efforts to locate and hold this defendant accountable,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R.
Steele said in a statement.“Anyone who is thinking about committing crimes in Montgomery County should understand the outstanding effort that our law enforcement officers make in locating and catching perpetrators of crime and protecting our residents.”Authorities said they are looking for additional suspects and any tips should be sent to the Lower Merion Police. Barkley and his family were home at the time that Parker is alleged to have attempted to burglarize the abode on July 18, and everyone was unharmed.
