Reid Detmers and his 182 strikeouts give the Los Angeles Angels an edge over Boston Red Sox

The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of yet another lost season.They will almost certainly finish as the worst team in their division, and potentially the worst team in baseball.

Another 100-loss season is on the horizon unless they can win seven of their final 18 games.Considering they are winning only 38% of their games, it seems a bit unlikely that they will get the seven wins needed to avoid the 100-loss fate.

It has been a very strong season from Detmers this year, with him going 4-8 for the year, posting a 3.44 ERA, and a 1.06 WHIP.He is also 10th in baseball with 182 strikeouts.

Detmers has been worse on the road this season, but his numbers aren't terrible.His road ERA is 3.80, compared with 3.21 at home.

He has been fantastic since the start of August, going 37 innings and allowing just six earned runs.One of his worst starts of the season came against Boston, where he allowed five earned runs over five innings.The Boston Red Sox avoided a disaster season by becoming one of the hottest teams in baseball history.

They have been extremely streaky over the past couple of months, winning a ton, then losing a few in a row.They've won their past five games, including the series opener yesterday.

However, even this win streak saw them lose six of their previous eight games before starting this streak.And before that, they won five games in a row again.
