Jazz Chisholm Jr. exits with thumb injury in Yankees concern: Well see

Jazz Chisholm Jr.was pulled in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday after jamming his right thumb while diving into second base in the bottom of the eighth. After initially remaining in the 5-3 win over Colorado in The Bronx, Chisholm bounced a throw to first base to open the ninth inning. Although Chisholm got the out on the play, he was replaced by José Caballero. The injury occurred when Chisholm was thrown out at second in the bottom of the eighth after he hit a ball off the wall in right field. Chisholm dived awkwardly into second on the play and was called out — which was upheld on review. Then, when Chisholm went to his right on Jake McCarthy’s grounder to open the ninth, he made a poor throw that Luis García Jr.scooped. Asked if Chisholm was OK, Aaron Boone said, “We’ll see.” The manager added Chisholm was a “little numb” and could potentially get imaging on the injury Wednesday, depending on how he feels. It’s been mostly a rough season for Chisholm, who is headed to free agency after this year, but he’s played better over the last two weeks.
