MIAMI — A federal judge on Wednesday denied bail for Andrew and Tristan Tate, the “manosphere” influencers who’ll now have to remain behind bars in Florida while fighting extradition to the United Kingdom on dozens of sex crime charges.The brothers failed to show they were not a flight risk, a danger to the community or deserved special consideration for bail, U.S.Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis ruled.“Based upon the foregoing, I find that Respondents have failed to meet their burden to demonstrate that they do not present a risk of flight or danger to the community, or that special circumstances warrant their release,” Louis wrote.
“Respondents have failed to demonstrate that special circumstances here warrant relief.”Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged with dozens of counts of rape, assault and sex trafficking in the United Kingdom.The brothers, who are dual U.K.-U.S.nationals, were taken into custody in Miami in July after prosecutors in the United Kingdom filed new charges against them.
They are fighting extradition to that county.Their attorney, Joe McBride, has denied the allegations and said their incarceration was the “result of an unholy alliance between the enemies of free speech in the United States and the United Kingdom.”Prosecutors in the U.K.had argued against their release, saying in a filing earlier this month that their own statements suggest the brothers intended to evade justice.
