Republican Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers is lacing into his foe Dr.Abdul El-Sayed by highlighting a video from David Beamer, the father of Flight 93 hero Todd Beamer — as the 25th anniversary of the Sept.
11, 2001 terrorist attacks fast approaches.The elder Beamer, a Michigander who endorsed Rogers this week, took aim at El-Sayed’s association with notorious far-left streamer Hasan Piker, who said in 2019 that “America deserved 9/11.” El-Sayed repeatedly stumped with Piker, though he did disavow that comment.“A citizen, I guess, has a free will and a right to say that,” David Beamer chided in the new digital ad for Rogers.“An American would not.”The spot comes as El-Sayed has come under scrutiny over his own prior remarks about 9/11, in which he blasted America for the deaths that came from the War on Terror.
In several since-deleted social media posts, El-Sayed made references to the attacks, comparing COVID-19 fatalities to 9/11 death tolls.He also noted the resulting anti-Muslim sentiment that came following the crashes.While El-Sayed has pushed back on these tweets, emphasizing that he thinks 9/11 was a terrible disaster, Rogers’ spot doubles down on the idea that an “American wouldn’t say that.”“Todd Beamer was an American hero who courageously stood up and faced down evil,” Rogers told The Post.
