Billionaire investor Chris Burch is looking to turn a tidy profit on his Hamptons retreat — after giving the sprawling waterfront estate a major makeover.Burch, the founder and CEO of Burch Creative Capital who co-founded the Tory Burch fashion label with his then-wife, designer Tory Burch, has listed his Water Mill estate for $39.5 million.He purchased the spread, known as Listowel, for $28 million in 2021, property records show, marking his return to the Hamptons just months after unloading another Southampton estate for $15.5 million.The Post reported on Burch’s purchase at that time.The deal was one of several big-ticket real estate moves by the serial entrepreneur.Burch bought a waterfront Miami Beach estate for $14.2 million in 2020, extensively renovated it and later listed it for $49 million, according to the Real Deal.He has also rented at Manhattan’s glossy 220 Central Park South and has owned homes in the Hamptons and near Paris.His property interests have extended overseas, too.
Burch and hotelier James McBride acquired the Indonesian resort now known as NIHI Sumba in 2012 and transformed the former surf retreat into a luxury resort, Forbes reported.Back in Water Mill, the nearly 7-acre property at 258 Horsemill Lane sits directly on Mecox Bay, with roughly 360 feet of water frontage.Since Burch bought the estate, the shingle-style home has undergone an extensive renovation.The work transformed the interiors and reconfigured the floor plan.The seven-bedroom home was originally designed by architect Katherine McCoy, with interiors by Daniel Romualdez.
The original project took five years to complete.Among its more distinctive features is a two-story library.The property also has a pool overlooking Mecox Bay, a private dock and a carriage house.
