Seven Years After Disbanding, Noisia Are Making Music Together Again

“I don’t think you’ll see us coming back as Noisia,” Thijs de Vlieger wrote back in August 2022, days after the iconic trio played their final show.Seven years to the day after announcing their split, Noisia’s Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and de Vlieger are working together again, the group’s record label VISION tells EDM.com.

Noisia are also returning to the stage for a comeback performance, which is slated for December 4th at Amsterdam’s Melkweg.The venue hosted the first ‘Noisia Invites’ event and, a decade later, the last.

When the trio first announced their split in 2019, they framed it as creative divergence.All three had grown, they said at the time, and wanted “different different things.” The farewell run that followed, billed as the ‘It’s Never The Right Time’ tour, was stretched across three years by the pandemic and yielded a surprise third album before their final show.

In the year’s since, Roos built out Sleepnet then launched Ring Noord while de Vlieger kept collaborating with Amon Tobin and scored ‘Biomimicry’ for Iris van Herpen and the Dutch National Ballet.Meanwhile, van Sonderen returned to the beloved Zonderling project and produced music under his NSR alias.

Now, the influential Noisia trio “is in motion again,” Roos said.“We started making music together again,” the group said in a statement.

“That in turn made us crave the excitement of the stage, and the feeling of sharing our music with crowds… We’ve grown a lot individually.We intuitively feel that our own endeavours can now co-exist with our Noisia project.
