St. Bernard High School student goes viral as tallest kicker in state

Gurang-Gurang Macham might be the tallest kicker in high school football.Standing at 6-foot-9 and 200 pounds, Macham is the kicker for St.

Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, California.For reference, the tallest kicker in NFL history is Neil O’Donoghue who stood at 6-foot-6.O’Donoghue played nine seasons in the NFL in the 1970s and 80s, spending time with the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the then-St.

Louis Cardinals.In 1979, O’Donoghue’s field goal helped the Buccaneers clinch their first divisional title with a 3-0 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Macham would be a whole three inches taller than O’Donoghue if he were to join the NFL as a kicker, which would make football history.Originally from Sudan, the senior plays basketball but decided to expand his horizons to the football field this season.

Thus far, Macham is 11-for-19 (.579) in four games played.His Vikings have begun the season 4-0 with victories over Los Amigos, Westchester, Wilson and Beverly Hills.St.

Bernard’s next matchup will be an away game at Bosco Tech, which marks their first league showdown of the season....
