Jets make kicker decision after Jason Sanders up-and-down Week 1

Jason Sanders will kick for the Jets again Sunday against Green Bay. “I thought it was critical to see him go through that miss and then be able to come back and make two 50-something yarders, which I thought was impressive.” Sanders’ role was in question after his unsteady performance over the summer, which helped lead the Jets to claim Blake Grupe off waivers before the opener. But after he didn’t come close on the 54-yarder, Sanders recovered against Tennessee, with the two long field goals in his first regular-season game since 2024, when he was with Miami. “Every time you miss, when you come back and hit those, it’s definitely a nice little boost to your confidence,’’ Sanders said.“Obviously, you don’t want to miss them, but I felt good.” Glenn praised Sanders’ ability to overcome his poor camp and his first long kick of the season. “If you look at our team in general, including myself, we have a team of men that has [gone] through some things, that have fought through some adversity,’’ Glenn said.
“I’m attracted to people like that, because it’s not just the physical toughness, but the mental toughness that shows up.” That’s what Glenn saw from Sanders on Sunday. “He did a good job and I like the way he fought back and ended up making those field goals,’’ Glenn said.
