Family of girl, 10, killed by trans mass shooter plans to sue YouTube for ignoring threats: Could have saved her life
The family of a 10-year-old girl killed by a transgender mass shooter has accused YouTube of failing to flag alarming videos posted by her murderer — including a manifesto warning of the coming atrocity.Harper Moyski was killed alongside Fletcher Merkel, 8, when Robin Westman, 23, shot up the Catholic church at the Annunciation School in Minneapolis during a welcome mass for students in August 2025, injuring 27 others before turning the gun on himself.Westman — who was born Robert, a male, before identifying as female with the new name Robin — should have been flagged as a threat after posting videos online glorifying violence, guns and racism, lawyers planning a lawsuit on behalf of Moyski’s family told KARE.The most alarming clips were posted hours before the mass shooting — including a deranged manifesto with diagrams of the church, attorneys Bakari Sellers and Greg Francis noted of posts previously authenticated by cops.“The family feels very strongly that more could’ve been done, more should’ve been done, with these videos that were posted, uploaded to YouTube,” Francis said.“There are safety protocols that should’ve been in place.”Knowing that YouTube “could have saved her life but chose not to is more than any parent could bear,” the lawyers added of grieving parents Jackie Flavin and Michael Moyski, who called their daughter “pure joy and hope.” The planned lawsuit will also name Facepunch Studios, the developer of the sandbox video game Garry’s Mod, for allowing Westman to openly discuss violence with other players.Neither Google, which owns YouTube, nor Facepunch immediately responded to requests for comment.
