Gavin Newsom and elected by voters in 2022 with about 60% of the vote.Weber is the first Black woman to hold the role.
Wagner is a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and former mayor of Irvine.He also is a Republican member of the state Assembly.

She was born to sharecroppers in Arkansas during the segregationist Jim Crow era, and her father couldn’t vote until he was in his 30s.Weber was a member of the San Diego Board of Education and while in Assembly served as chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus.“I know the position,” she said.
