Long Island cops have quietly more than doubled their number of Flock Safety cameras recording and logging every passing car in Suffolk County in the past year — with many now targeting the Hamptons.County officials said more than 30 new cop AI-powered cameras have been put into place along Suffolk’s roads since August 2025, with several more in the process of being installed, to bring the total number of county-operated controversial “Big Brother” cams from just 25 last year to about 60.That increase is a staggering 140% jump in the controversial tech’s reach around Suffolk’s roads through its police since just last fall — and county officials already revealed to The Post that an additional deal for even more cameras may be on the horizon.Suffolk already has hundreds more Flock Safety cameras blanketing the roads through separate deals with towns, villages, and even private living communities — most of which directly share their data with police through Flock’s sprawling and connected network.Other AI-powered plate readers have also be installed on Suffolk roads that “do not require legislative approval,” but it was not specified where, according to the documents. In neighboring Nassau County on Long Island, there is already roughly one Flock Safety camera located every nine and a half miles — making the drivers in New York City’s suburbs one of the most surveilled populations in the country, The Post previously reported. The new Suffolk cams, which were purchased through a $542,500 law-enforcement tech grant from the state and unanimously approved by the county legislature in August 2025, greatly expanded the county’s surveillance network along the island’s East End.The deal paid for 35 more Flock AI-powered surveillance cameras, with 16 going throughout the East End, including in Southampton, Riverhead, Southold, along Route 114 in Sag Harbor and East Hampton Village, and near Exit 71 on the Long Island Expressway, according to doc...
