Top cop assures Jewish NYers have partner in the NYPD ahead of planned anti-Israel Oct. 7 protests

The NYPD assured Jewish New Yorkers they have a “partner in the” police force as the city prepares for anti-Israel protests Wednesday, the third anniversary of the Oct.7 terror attacks.Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch made the pledge on Tuesday before student organizations will hold a large so-called anti-zionist “resistance” rally outside of City Hall to criticize Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s new task force to combat antisemitism.

“The Mayor’s claim of solidarity with the Palestinian people is meaningless when it is followed by no action and capitulation to zionist pressure,” the pro-Palestinian activist group Within Our Lifetime posted to X Monday. The group railed against Hizzoner’s newly announced $26 million “Strategy to Combat Anti-semitism” – claiming it will “provide funding for Zionist propagandist groups.”School walkouts are planned as well – including one at Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn at 11:30 a.m.Wednesday.

Other rumored walkouts at Columbia University and New York University have also been promoted on social media.“On the eve of the third anniversary of October 7th, we renew our pledge to Jewish institutions that they will not be left to protect themselves without a strong partner in the NYPD,” Tisch said.

The top cop on Wednesday also denounced the rise in hate crimes in the Big Apple — up 13% year over year, with 53% targeting Jewish city residents.“Those numbers are deeply concerning.

Our hate crimes task force continues to aggressively investigate these incidents while we deploy additional resources to protect Jewish communities,” Tisch said at a press conference at police headquarters....
