Dre Greenlaw drops blunt 3-word reaction to $12K Sean Payton taunting fine

49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw’s beef with Broncos coach Sean Payton proved costly.Greenlaw taunted Payton (who coached him last season) after making a tackle along the Broncos’ sideline in San Francisco’s 24-14 win over Denver on Sunday.Greenlaw ended up getting fined $11,941 by the NFL for taunting the Broncos’ bench, per Aaron Wilson.Greenlaw didn’t seem to know about the fine until it was posted on social media. The @oursf49ers Instagram account posted about the 29-year-old’s fine on Tuesday, and the top comment was from Greenlaw himself.“Damn fr? Lmao,” Greenlaw wrote.
Greenlaw’s relationship with Payton started well, when he signed a three-year, $35 million deal with Denver in March 2025.But it deteriorated after Greenlaw was frustrated with how Payton and the rest of the Broncos’ organization handled his role upon returning from an injury that kept him sidelined for half of last season.Denver elected to release Greenlaw after the season ended, which opened the door for him to return to San Francisco, where he spent the first six seasons of his NFL career.Payton spoke about the taunting incident after Sunday’s game and asserted that he has nothing but love for his former linebacker. The love doesn’t seem mutual with Greenlaw.
And he’s only going to be more frustrated, now that this entire situation has cost him nearly $12,000....
