Man riding two-wheeled device struck, killed by pick-up driver in NYC: cops

A man riding a “two-wheeled device” was fatally struck by a pick-up truck driver in the Bronx during the Wednesday morning rush, police said. The unidentified man was heading west on East 145th Street when the truck driver, traveling south on Brook Avenue in Mott Haven, hit him around 8:25 a.m., cops said. He was taken with head and body trauma to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The pick-up truck driver, a 55-year-old man, stayed at the scene and did not immediately face any charges, police said. It was not immediately clear whether the man who was killed had been riding a bike, scooter or moped.His name was not released pending family notification.The fatal crash happened just two days after a 71-year-old bicyclist was killed when he crashed into a dog running free in Central Park, police said. Douglas Adams was riding north on the East Drive near East 84th Street around 8:20 a.m.
