One cop dead, another in critical condition after being ambushed by Philadelphia gunman

One Philadelphia cop was fatally shot and another is fighting for his life after an ambush attack by a crazed gunman early Saturday morning.Cops responded to a call for a man armed with a gun on a porch just after midnight on the 100 block of North 52nd Street in West Philadelphia.As soon as they stepped onto the porch the cops were hit with a hail of gunfire, according to WPVI.One cop, a 33-year-old father of five was shot 12 times, and another officer, a 40-year-old father of two, was shot three times – and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.Both officers were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Police have not confirmed which officer was killed.The sole suspect in the shooting fled the scene, continuing to fire off shots at cops in a nearby alley and then climbing a tree to hide.He later surrendered to police after a SWAT unit arrived, according to Fox 29.Officers reportedly recovered three firearms, including two handguns and a shotgun.Neither the suspect nor the victim has been identified....
