Trump announces Katie Bailey to lead White House outreach to Congress

President Donald Trump on Saturday named Katie Bailey to lead the White House’s Office of Legislative Affairs, appointing her to be the liaison between the administration and Congress.“After previously working on Capitol Hill, Katie understands how the Executive and Legislative Branches of Government can most effectively work together to achieve Great Success for the American People,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump added that Bailey is currently his deputy director of legislative affairs, liaising with the Senate and, per Trump, helping with the confirmations of Cabinet members including Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton.Bailey’s LinkedIn profile says she previously served as special assistant to the president from September 2025 to June 2026.
She also served in numerous legislative roles on Capitol Hill, most recently as legislative director for Sen.Mike Braun, R-Ind.
Bailey’s appointment comes a day after Trump named Katie Zacharia to be his new White House press secretary.James Braid previously led the office, helping navigate Trump’s legislative priorities through Congress, a job that could become harder if Republicans fail to conserve their majority in both chambers after the midterms.
