Chargers vs. Chiefs prediction: Patrick Mahomes keeps Kansas City undefeated in divisional clash
The Chiefs are well rested and back on the field this week as they host the Chargers Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead.Kansas City is the last remaining undefeated team in the AFC and face a winless Chargers team that is in shambles right now.This line jumped up to Chiefs -8.5 earlier in the week but is settling back down to -7.5 ahead of kickoff.When the Chargers were thinking about how their season would start they probably expected some tough weeks at the beginning.They knew they had a four-week stretch that featured games against the Bills on the road, the Seahawks on the road, the Broncos at home and the Chiefs on the road before an early bye week.What they probably didn’t expect was two losses to the Cardinals and Raiders in the first two weeks of the season.
Since that stretch it’s been a five-alarm fire for the Chargers each week and the blaze is spreading to the chair of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.Los Angeles can’t get out of its 0-5 hole in one game, but absolutely have to get on the board with a win to prevent full on catastrophe.That pressure will carry into this game against a division rival that has tortured them during its dynastic run over the past eight years.The Chiefs with a dynamic running game look like one of the best offenses in the NFL and it has allowed Patrick Mahomes to ease back into his role after the ACL injury he suffered against the Chargers.The Chargers won the last two matchups, including the game in which Mahomes was hurt, but it’s hard to see them getting their first win of this season here if their offense can’t keep up.
