10-year-old boy shoots, kills teen neighbor fighting with his mom over loud music

A 10-year-old boy shot and killed a teenage neighbor in New Mexico who was brawling with his mom, who was busted for murder, accused of ordering the boy to get her handgun.The boy’s heavily tattooed mom, Elaina Gomez-Villeda, 40, told cops that the fight with her neighbors in Albuquerque started when she complained about their loud music, KRQE reported.As she slugged it out, she told her young son to go and grab her handgun — and he came out and shot Keinerlein Rangel, 16, killing her, according to authorities. “I’m probably going to jail right now,” the mom texted her husband before calling 911 to report it.While Gomez-Villeda was still on the phone with 911, Keinerlein’s father tried to bust down her door and smashed a window, according to police.Gomez-Villeda then grabbed a gun and shot at the enraged dad, she told cops.“I thought we were gonna die,” she told cops, according to the outlet.“These people, they do it a lot, and I didn’t think I was gonna be the target, but it is what it is,” she said.When Albuquerque cops arrived around 4 p.m., they saw someone shooting from inside the apartment and took cover — with Gomez-Villeda holding a gun while chasing three people outside, police said.One cop fired at the mother, but missed.The 10-year-old boy, who has not been identified due to his age, has not been charged.

Detectives are working with the DA to determine potential criminal charges because of his age, KRQE said.His mom was seen with a big red wound under her left eye in her mugshot.She was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, negligently making a firearm accessible to a minor, misdemeanor battery and receiving stolen property.The shooting remains under investigation....
