SPLATA's Dubstep Song About Frog Mating Calls Inspires Swamp-Themed Rave

Seven months after launching his new project, Los Angeles producer SPLATA has built a growing following around an unusual creative premise: translating animal calls into bass music. The project, which debuted in March 2026, emerged from years of releasing music under the name Tristan ChantZ.

Its breakthrough came with “FROGZ,” a dubstep track that tells the story of a male frog pursuing a mate, with increasingly frantic bass drops mimicking his mating calls. The track accumulated 111,000 streams across platforms in its first five weeks, while videos featuring the track surpassed 1 million combined views.

It also secured placements on Spotify editorial playlists Dubstep Don and SUBLOW.Biomusic has become the foundation of the project.

An earlier release, ‘HOOTY HOO,’ incorporated owl calls into its arrangement while ‘CICADA,’ his latest track, draws on the insect’s distinctive buzzing.SPLATA says the approach reflects the primal quality he associates with dubstep, adding that he plans to continue building songs around sounds from the animal kingdom.

‘FROGZ,’ however, has taken on a life beyond the music itself. On November 14, SPLATA will bring that identity to Los Angeles with MARSH PIT, a frog-themed rave in the city’s Arts District.

The producer is organizing the event himself, overseeing everything from the swamp-inspired decor to merchandise painted by hand. The hometown show marks a new chapter for an artist whose online following has increasingly rallied around the amphibian theme.

SPLATA has been promoting the event daily, encouraging fans to experience the world of ‘FROGZ’ in person.Scroll to continue more from edm Pretty Lights to Ring in 2027 With Three-Night New Year’s Run in Denver His studio output has continued alongside the preparations.
