Neighbor accused of shooting woman because her horse was getting too fat

A Texas man is behind bars after he allegedly shot his neighbor last week because he thought her horse was getting “too fat.” Lee David Strole, 39, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly opening fire on his neighbor in the rural Leggett community north of Livingston on Oct.15, East Texas News reported.
Authorities said Strole is also wanted in Harris County on an unrelated aggravated assault of a family member warrant.Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a shooting on Wilson Road and found a woman suffering from several gunshot wounds, court records show. She told investigators her neighbor shot her in the arm and possibly the back during a dispute over how she was feeding her horse — which was kept on Strole’s property with his permission. The woman told deputies Strole was upset she continued to feed the animal, claiming he “did not want the horse to get too fat,” according to police documents.A perimeter was set up around Strole’s home while deputies obtained a search warrant.Investigators said they found evidence linking him to the shooting inside the residence.Strole was later discovered hiding in a wooded area near his home and taken into custody without incident.
He remains jailed in Polk County with no bond, records show. The victim survived the shooting, but authorities have not provided an update on her condition.Authorities have not released further details about what led up to the shooting or whether Strole has hired a lawyer....
