Long Island bank robber busted after stickup note shenanigans: cops

A Long Island bank robber who allegedly held up two local Flagstars using stickup notes has been arrested, cops said Thursday.Brian Blackford, 51, was pulled over by police during an early-morning traffic-stop in Copiague just before 1 a.m.Thursday when the officers on scene identified him as the suspected thief, according to Suffolk County police.However, the accused thief didn’t go down without a fight and resisted arrest, cops said. Blackford allegedly struck the first bank on Monday, then another just 5-miles away on Wednesday, walking into each location and handing the tellers a note demanding cash.
Cops wouldn’t disclose how much money the alleged thief made off with.Blackford was charged with two counts of robbery on top of resisting arrest and drug possession. The alleged thief’s rap sheet includes arrests for crack and other drug possession, court records showed.He has also previously faced charges of acting in a manner to injure a child, menacing with a knife, weapons possession and harassment, the records show.He had not been arraigned as of Thursday, the Suffolk County District’s Attorney’s office said....
