Mahmoud Khalil sues feds again using KKK Act of 1871 to claim they illegally colluded with pro-Israel groups to jail him

Far-left activist Mahmoud Khalil filed another lawsuit against the US government Tuesday — using the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871 to claim the feds illegally colluded with pro-Israel groups to jail and silence him.Khalil, 31, announced his Manhattan federal suit at a press conference outside the courthouse — flanked by supporters including actors Cynthia Nixon and Morgan Spector, who co-star in HBO period drama “The Gilded Age.”The anti-Israel rabble-rouser alleges in his suit that top White House officials conspired with the conservative Heritage Foundation and Israel-boosting groups Betar and Canary Mission to jail him and other student activists after “smearing” them as antisemites because of their criticism of the Israeli government. The illegal campaign to terrorize Mahmoud — a former Columbia University student who spent 104 days in a Louisiana jail after ICE agents detained him in March 2025 — violated the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, which bars “conspiracies” to violate groups of people’s civil rights, according to his suit.“This lawsuit is about accountability and justice,” Khalil said at his press event. His suit claims that the defendant conservative and pro-Israel groups compiled lists of Israel critics which were then handed over to the feds and used to decide who was targeted by ICE for arrest and deportation.Tuesday’s suit comes amid Khalil’s extended fight with the US government over whether he can be removed from the US.He previously filed a $20 million notice of claim, or precursor to a lawsuit, over his alleged false arrest and detainment and another lawsuit over the controversy. The green-card holder, a Syrian-born Palestinian who is married to a US citizen, is expected to urge the US Supreme Court in the coming weeks to block his expulsion from the country, which has been ordered by immigration judges overseen by the Trump Justice Department. The Heritage Foundation, Betar and Canary Mission did not respond to Post requests f...
