Heavily-armed suspect filmed Trump security at California golf course as modified weapons, mugshot seen for first time

An armed man allegedly scouted President Trump’s California golf club before the commander in chief’s visit, and investigators say the arrest uncovered an illegal rifle, body armor and a weapons stash.Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was charged in a federal criminal complaint with possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle after his arrest Saturday at Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes.The felony carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.Federal agents were conducting security sweeps ahead of Trump’s Aug.4 visit when they spotted Taele on July 31 walking around the course wearing an earpiece while taking photos and videos of security-planning activities, according to court papers.Taele returned to the club Saturday, prompting staff to alert authorities.He allegedly approached federal agents and falsely claimed he worked for the State Department and was assigned to a security detail.

Taele also admitted he had a loaded firearm inside his pickup truck parked at the club.Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded and discovered Taele had an outstanding El Segundo warrant tied to a robbery case.Deputies found a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in his pocket.A search of his pickup truck turned up a loaded 9mm pistol with a round chambered, another loaded magazine filled with hollow-point ammunition, binoculars and a badge labeled “security protection agent.” California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.Please provide a valid email.
