NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell gives update on league status of 49ers owner Jed York

San Francisco 49er’s owner Jed York‘s trailer park prostitution bust has him directly in the crosshairs of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.“It’s being reviewed under the personal conduct policy,” Goodell said at the NFL owners meeting in Atlanta Wednesday.“We’ll do that and when there’s something to be reported we’ll talk.” The NFL has not announced that York violated the policy or that he will be disciplined.

Instead, the league is determining whether his conduct warrants punishment under rules that apply to everyone in the NFL, including players, coaches and team owners. The policy gives the league broad authority to investigate off-field conduct and impose discipline even when criminal charges are reduced or otherwise resolved.The development came as newly released police body-camera footage, obtained by the California Post, showed the moment officers approached York’s SUV during Sunday’s sting at a mobile home park in East Palestine, Ohio.In the footage, officers ask York what he is doing.“Just driving,” York responds.An officer then asks whether he is meeting anyone.York says no before officers place him in handcuffs and lead him to a police cruiser. York, 45, had responded to an online advertisement posted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force and agreed to pay $160 for sex with a woman he believed was a prostitute, according to police and court records.
